Upper Hutt Posse 1989 A2

Against the Flow is the groundbreaking 1989 debut studio album by the pioneering New Zealand hip-hop group, Upper Hutt Posse.

Released on Southside Records, the album solidified the group's status as the trailblazers of conscious Aotearoa hip-hop following their revolutionary 1988 bilingual debut single, "E Tū". Their music uniquely fused a "rap reggae funk fusion" style with a staunch political focus on tino rangatiratanga (Māori sovereignty), anti-colonialism, and racial justice.

E Tū": Widely recognized as Aotearoa New Zealand's very first released rap song
